Can I get coverage if I'm self-employed or a 1099 contractor?
Yes. If you're self-employed, a freelancer, or a 1099 contractor, you can buy individual coverage through the ACA Marketplace or through a private plan. I compare both to match your income and health needs.
What's the difference between a PPO and an ACA Marketplace plan?
A PPO describes the network. It gives you flexibility to see specialists and out-of-network providers. ACA Marketplace plans cover all Essential Health Benefits and cannot deny you based on health history. I walk you through both options.
How much does health insurance cost for a small business?
It depends on your team size, ages, location, and the plan you choose. Many owners find that offering individual coverage costs less than a group plan. I run both side by side so you see real numbers before committing to anything.
Does using an advisor cost me anything?
No. PhillipsHealth is paid directly by the carriers, which means your consultation, plan comparison, and enrollment support are completely free. You get the same plan prices whether you go through an advisor or apply directly.
What states does PhillipsHealth serve?
I'm licensed in 31 states and help clients compare private and Marketplace coverage across all of them. Not sure if I cover your state? Reach out and I'll let you know right away.
What happens after I enroll?
I stay your point of contact year-round. Whether you have a billing question, need to update your plan, or want to review your options at renewal time, I'm available and you'll always reach a real person.
What does a deductible actually mean?
Your deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket for covered care before your plan starts paying its share. A lower deductible usually means a higher monthly premium, and a higher deductible means a lower premium. I help you find the balance that fits how often you actually use care.
When can I enroll in a health plan?
ACA Marketplace plans have an annual Open Enrollment window, usually in the late fall. Outside that window you generally need a qualifying life event, like losing coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby, to enroll. Many private plans can be applied for year-round. I'll tell you which window applies to your situation.
Will I keep my current doctor?
Often yes. Before recommending a plan, I check whether the doctors and specialists you want to keep are in that plan's network. If keeping a specific provider matters to you, just tell me up front and I'll factor it into the options I bring you.
Should I choose a private PPO or an ACA Marketplace plan?
It depends on your health history and whether you qualify for a subsidy. If you're generally healthy and don't qualify for much of a subsidy, a private PPO plan can often mean broader access at a lower monthly cost. If you have ongoing health conditions or qualify for a strong subsidy, the Marketplace is usually the better fit. I walk through both against your actual numbers before you decide.
